This was the first opera in the newly incorporated San Francisco Opera.

Before the Company's incorporation, however, there was a short season given under the title of "San Francisco Opera" at Stanford Stadium. A stage was constructed at the north end of the stadium; capacity was 17,000; prices ranged between $1 and $5. Attendance for "Pagliacci" was 6,000; 8,000 for "Carmen"; 10,000 for "Faust." This was the season:
