Acknowledgements

This new production of "Aida" is made possible through the generosity of a friend of the San Francisco Opera

This new production of "Aida" is San Francisco Opera's contribution to San Francisco's city-wide celebration of the 800th anniversary of the birth of St. Francis, the City's patron.

Notes

The production was subject of a Sunday, November 15 live satellite television broadcast to Europe, as well as a closed-circuit/simulcast relay to the Civic
Auditorium (Attendance there: 4000).

(Leontyne Price, in the house for appearances in "Il Trovatore," was asked by Maestro Adler to come to the rescue on November 18, when Margaret Price became ill. Although Leontyne Price had by then "retired" the role of Aida, she agreed, and afterwards proceeded to perform the role several more times both here and at the Metropolitan Opera.)

(Cast changes from the printed program also include Mr. Rydl (11/12, 15, 21) and Mr. Furlanetto (11/18, 24, 27) in the role of Ramfis.)
