The performance inaugurated the newly completed War Memorial Opera House. 

Live broadcast, 10/15/1932, 8:15pm: The national anthem and Act I.  "Tosca, Act I: Claudia Muzio (Tosca), Dino Borgioli (Cavaradossi), Alfredo Gandolfi (Scarpia); Gaetano Merola. The opening night performance of the Company’s tenth season and inauguration of the new War Memorial Opera House is broadcast nationwide by NBC. The radio audience hears a commentary on the building, the National Anthem, and Act I of Tosca. The preserved recording is the only live performance of legendary soprano Claudia Muzio known to have survived."
