Permission to adapt the play provided by John L. Eastman, Trustee under the Will of Tennessee Williams. Presented by special arrangement with the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee.

The performances of September 23, 26 and 29 are being taped for a future telecast. Lighting will be slightly augmented.

This production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" is being produced for telecast by San Francisco Opera, Thirteen/WNET in New York, RM Associates and Deutsche Grammophon. It will be broadcast on December 30, 1998, on the "Great Performances" public television performing arts series (check local listings).
"Great Performances" is funded by CPB, NEA, PBS, public television viewers, and The Chase Manhattan Corporation and the Chase Manhattan Private Bank.
The "Streetcar" telecast is also funded by the Irene Diamond Fund and the Ira and Leonore Gershwin Philanthropic Fund.

The opera will be performed with two intermissions. (Note: No scene breakdown was given.)
