11/19/2022 7:30:00 PM -- TRAVIATA ENCOUNTER -- IMMERSIVE EVENT
Experience the romance, drama and passion of one of opera’s great works in a new way at The Traviata Encounter. Enjoy the first act of Verdi’s 1853 opera, followed by an immersive evening of food, drinks, and dancing in a transformed Opera House.
THE EVENING:
The curtain rises on the lavish salon of Violetta’s Paris apartment, as Act I of Shawna Lucey’s stunning new production is performed in its entirety (approximately 25 minutes), with full orchestra, chorus, and principal cast. This Act contains timeless musical moments such as the haunting prelude, the impossible-not-to-hum-along-with “Libiamo ne’ lieti calici”, and the sparkling tour-de-force “Sempre libera.”
Following Act I, the action moves from the auditorium to the Opera House lobbies: ornate, hallowed hallways that have hosted opera audiences for decades, and that for one night only are transformed into a not-to-be-missed party you’ll want to share with friends old and new.
Recommended for audiences ages 21 and over. Some lobby areas will include adult content. Discretion is advised.
LOBBY EXPERIENCES:
For one night only, the Opera House lobbies are transformed into a not-to-be-missed party you’ll want to share with friends old and new. Each space is inspired by one of the remaining scenes of La Traviata. All lobby experiences run continuously after Act I, until 10:00pm.
THE UPPER LEVELS
Grand Tier and Dress Circle lobby levels are inspired by La Traviata's Act Two, Scene One. Be swept away with the luscious feeling of passionate love, secluded in heavenly nature. These levels feature live entertainment and other surprises, with themed drinks and bites available for purchase.
THE LOWER LEVEL
Feel the pull of the Basement lobby level, as it tempts you to indulge in pleasures for every sense, inspired by Flora's infamous party in La Traviata's Act Two, Scene Two. This level features games and live entertainment, with themed drinks and bites available for purchase.
THE MAIN FLOOR
The main lobby floor culminates the experience, in tribute to Violetta's incredible life cut tragically short in La Traviata's Act Three. Celebrate the way she would wish: by dancing the night away! This level features a dance floor, presided over by DJ Jeanine Da Feen.
THE DETAILS:
Cozy up to the bar or explore every nook and cranny, as you’re surrounded with distinct spaces, each inspired by one of the remaining scenes of La Traviata. Enjoy the proper elegance of Violetta’s country garden and the sinful decadence of Flora’s gambling party. And dance the night away as a DJ presides over a raucous celebration of, and tribute to, Violetta’s remarkable life.
Each interactive lobby area, created in collaboration with the visionary creative team behind this production of La Traviata, features unique, themed cocktails and light refreshments available for purchase available for purchase. All tickets are priced at less than $100, except for VIP Box-level tickets which include an exclusive, complimentary champagne reception before Act I starts and access to a dedicated cash bar during the rest of the evening.
Grab a date and experience the dizzying world of The Traviata Encounter! Don your finest evening attire or simply come as you are. Costumes are very welcome, but kindly ensure your fabulous look will not impact other guests’ enjoyment of the Act I performance in the theater. The VIP reception begins at 6pm, with lobbies opening to all ticket holders at 6:30pm. The curtain rises on Act I of La Traviata at 7:30pm, and lobby experiences will continue until 10:00pm. Ticket price includes seating for Act I of La Traviata and access to themed party areas in the Main Lobby, the Basement, the Grand Tier, and the Dress Circle levels. Suggested for guests 21 and up.
