Notes

The Verdi Requiem was performed in memory of Company founder Gaetano Merola, who died while conducting San Francisco Opera members in San Francisco's Stern Grove on August 30, 1953.

The actual printed program apparently didn't survive. The facts, as available, are on the cast page.

The augmented chorus was prepared by Kurt Herbert Adler, whose title at that time was that of "Assistant to the General Director" and "Chorus Director."
