10/23/1932, live simulcast of Lucia di Lammermoor:  Lily Pons (Lucia), Dino Borgioli (Edgardo), Alfredo Gandolfi (Enrico), Louis D’Angelo (Raimundo); Gaetano Merola. The second performance of Lucia di Lammermoor was simulcast live to speakers set up in the Civic Auditorium and around Civic Center Plaza. The signal was not accessible to radios, but an estimated 20,000 people heard the performance whether at the Opera House or in the Auditorium and Civic Center Plaza areas. Pons, still in her costume for the Mad Scene, was taken to the Auditorium after the performance to take a bow before the assembled listeners.
